Learn to dive with
Dunoon Divers

Dunoon Divers are one of the youngest BSAC Clubs in the UK, formed only in 2019, and really gathering pace since the pandemic. We are based on the beautiful Cowal Peninsula, 1 hour west of Glasgow. We currently have around 25 members ranging from very experienced divers and instructors, to new trainees.

Welcome to Dunoon Divers

Dunoon Divers meet on a Wednesday evening.

We have access to a great local swimming pool for training and try dives. Our kit store is within the pool so we don’t have far to carry kit and we have access to a compressor for members to use.  After our pool sessions we take a short walk up to our local watering hole, the Tryst, where we can chill out, debrief and have a couple of social drinks.

During the summer months we take to the open water finding new shore and boat dives around the area. The great thing about Dunoon is…..it’s surrounded by water! So we have loads of sites to explore.

We also have an active dive calendar with weekend and week long trips in the UK and abroad.

Book a Try Dive

If you have always wanted to learn to dive or are simply curious about scuba diving, then why not come for a “Try Dive” with us here at  Dunoon Divers!

In the safe confines of our local swimming pool, a BSAC Instructor will introduce you to the basic skills and equipment needed to experience the thrill of breathing underwater for the very first time.

A typical Try Dive session lasts about 45 minutes. It involves poolside tuition on diving techniques and equipment, followed by a scuba dive in our pool with a BSAC-qualified instructor with time to play with our underwater toys like frisbees, hula hoops and rockets!

Try Dives cost £25 per person

What our members say...

I qualified as a diver (non-BSAC) many years ago but then drifted away from the sport, mainly through not being involved in a club environment and failing to find a suitable regular buddy. Having a hankering to give it another go, I contacted Dunoon Divers to ask how I set about becoming an active diver again. Right from the first phone call I was made to feel welcome. The club has a very enthusiastic, friendly and inclusive atmosphere and I have found the quality of training to be second to none. Advice is freely given and the training sessions are well structured with a good element of fun. The club is well set up to cater for those new to the sport as well as more experienced divers and those like me who are returning to the wonderful world of diving. I am in the process of completing the crossover course to Sports Diver and am looking forward to the various club outings being planned for the summer.

I've always loved being in the water, and had always wanted to get my diving certification, but never got around to doing it and kept putting it off. I didn't think that I had the time or the skill to do it, but BSAC Dunoon Divers proved me wrong immediately. The Club was so welcoming, accommodating and skilled, and I always felt safe and capable throughout all my training. I highly recommend giving a try-dive with the Club a go!
